The Office of IPE @ CUW wants to congratulate the students who received our newly developed Undergraduate Interprofessional Education Certificate.  Our first-ever recipients are from the Department of Social Work and are pictured below.

These particular students have shown a desire and dedication to maximize their exposure to interprofessional education while at Concordia University.  The IPE Undergraduate Certificate represents the culmination and completion of IPE campus program participation, coursework that specifically improves a student’s interprofessional competencies, including newly developed IPE-specific courses, and experiential and service learning opportunities (i.e., from clinical/internship rotations to volunteer and mission work) that expose and train students in collaborative and team-based skills.

The IPE Undergraduate Certificate is part of a two-year strategic planning initiative to create meaningful opportunities for students to become “job-ready” as they enter a marketplace that demands interprofessional and collaborative skills for person-centered care.  The Undergraduate Certificate is an important extension of our campus-wide vision and mission for IPE @ CUW to develop health and social care professionals in mind, body and spirit.  Many nursing, pre-medical, pre-health professional, and business students are on track (or eligible) to complete this undergraduate certificate in the future. Additionally, a graduate student version will be implemented in 2017-18, which will allow pharmacy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, physician assistant, masters-level social worker and nursing, athletic training, and speech and language pathology students to complete the requirements and receive an IPE certificate.

Please contact michael.oldani@cuw.edu in the Office of IPE @ CUW for more information and questions regarding IPE opportunities.
